Disposable or refillable cylinders?

If you are a beginner on a budget, a great start would be the Disposable cylinder kit. It comes with everything you need to get started, apart from a Mapp gas cylinder, which can be purchased from any good hardware store for about $18. The disposable oxygen cylinders can be purchased from our store or any good plumbing supply center around Australia. This kit can be found at Part Number UW-1251_MAPPCOMBO.

A refillable cylinder option costs more at the start, but in the long term, it works out cheaper as your gas refill costs are better value. You start by ordering the full-sized regulator and little torch combo, part number UW-1251_HARRISCOMBO.

This kit will connect to your standard 4kg or 9kg BBQ LPG bottle found at any local service station or Hardware store. The oxygen cylinder can be supplied directly from our WA Gases range in C size: (CYLC-OOXY-C) or D size: (CYLD-OOXY-D).

Other things to consider.

Disposable Oxygen Cylinders.

You will also need our Bromic Disposable Pure Oxygen Gas Bottle, 1811322. Premium made in Italy with 0.24 m3 of oxygen gas, very portable, and an appropriate size for under bench storage. Rose Bud Tips.

If you have a larger area to heat or a large amount of left over material to melt down, you can use the rose bud super heating tip.  Part number LittleTSuperHeat .

Use good quality regulators.

It’s very important for everybody to use high quality regulators with a jewellers torch due to 99% of regulators on the market, not precise enough to dispence low pressure gas flow. In response Hampdon have our Cobra branded regulators ranging from Oxygen, Acetylene and LPG gases which work well in this application.

They are European-made, which offers it as a superior choice for jewlers across Australia. Backed by a 5-year warranty we can guarantee them with a long life and industry level durability. Part numbers are : Oxygen: YLDOX10, Acetylene: YLDAC14, and for LPG: YLDLP35.
